Présentation
Un incontournable dans la région, la Montagne Noire près de Saint-Donat dans la région de Lanaudière est une randonnée unique en son genre. De multiples points de vue, des lacs sauvages, une forêt diversifiée, voilà ce qui t’attend sur les sentiers de cette montagne de 875 mètres d’altitude. En prime, un moment historique et émouvant près du sommet avec la visite du site d’écrasement du Liberator Harry, un avion militaire qui a heurté les flancs de la montagne en 1943. Bref, tu ne t’ennuieras pas durant cette randonnée. Définitivement à mettre sur ta liste !

Accès au Mont Dix
Au départ de Montréal : 125 km – 1h30 de route
Quitte Montréal par l’autoroute 15 Nord jusqu’à la ville de Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. Prend la sortie 89 en direction de Saint-Donat, puis la QC-329 Nord. Après 26 km, tourne sur la gauche sur le chemin Régimbald. Tu passeras devant deux stationnements P1 et P2 qui t’emmèneront tous deux sur les sentiers de la Montagne Noire.
Informations pratiques
Pour apprécier votre randonnée sans imprévus, il faut :
Être équipé : Cette randonnée est très bien tracée. De bonnes chaussures de randonnées sont toujours les bienvenues ainsi que du spray anti moustique en été ! Si tu réalises la boucle complète, prendre quelques barres de céréales et de l’eau en quantité suffisante.
Information : Il y a un panneau d’information aux départs des sentiers. Informe toi au préalable sur la météo sur les liens que nous te proposons.
La Randonnée
Embarque sur le sentier qui part soit du stationnement P1 ou P2 pour rejoindre le sentier des randonneurs, un large chemin qui passe à travers la forêt.
La montagne Noire, une randonnée familiale et instructive !
Une fois à la jonction, tourne à gauche et débute ta montée (modérée) sur environ 3.2 km (2 miles) pour rejoindre le beau refuge de la Mésangeai et son magnifique panorama. Durant les jours froid d’hiver tu peux y entrer pour te réchauffer. À partir de 16h, il devient privatisé par les randonneurs.
Retourne sur tes pas sur environ 100 mètres pour rejoindre une jonction qui indique le sommet le la montagne Noire. Le sentier devient alors très étroit et traverse une forêt bien fournie. Attention où tu mets les pieds, racines et trous couvrent le chemin. Tu passeras sur les bord du très beau lac Crystal où règne calme et tranquillité (sauf en hiver où tu auras droit aux sons des ski doos en arrière plan…).
Le sommet se trouve au bout de 1.5 km (0.9 mile). Il se compose d’une tour d’observation, entourée d’arbres… Un peu décevant mais la vue en haut de la tour vaut le coup.

Continue ensuite sur la droite de la tour sur le sentier Inter-centre pour rejoindre le fameux site du crash du Liberator Harry. Un endroit assez émouvant avec de nombreux panneaux d’information relatant l’histoire de cette catastrophe.
Une fois visité, continue le sentier sur les prochains 3.7 km (2.3 miles) en descente pour rejoindre un point de vue très jolie sur le lac Archambault. Le petit détour en vaut la peine.
Notre astuce : partez tôt pour apprécier le calme de cette jolie montagne Noire. C’est une randonnée très populaire dans la région Lanaudière. À partir de 10h/11h les sentiers sont très fréquentés
Finis ensuite cette randonnée en rejoignant le large sentier des randonneurs et la jonction qui t’emmènera vers le stationnement.
